ExxonMobil Launches New 100,000 Mile ODI Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-30 Oil

ExxonMobil has introduced a new, advanced lineup of Mobil Delvac 1™ synthetic heavy-duty diesel engine oils. The oils are now available via local distributors across the country.

The new lineup includes three products that meet either API CK-4 or FA-4 specification:
Mobil Delvac 1™ ESP 5W-30, designed to deliver long and reliable service in the latest engine technologies.
Mobil Delvac 1™ Advanced Fuel Economy 5W-30, designed to meet the most stringent fuel saving objectives and for use in the latest low-emission engine technologies.
Mobil Delvac 1™ ESP 5W-40, offering smooth and reliable engine operation, including for off-highway equipment.

Field performance and testing has demonstrated that these oils can help fleets minimize vehicle downtime and deliver increased fuel economy potential, without sacrificing engine protection, says the company.*

Extensive on-road testing has shown that the new Mobil Delvac 1 5W-30 oils deliver high-temperature viscosity control, oxidation resistance and wear protection, even with oil drain intervals of up to 100,000 miles.** This performance meets or exceeds requirements for even the most stringent manufacturer approvals.

Tests carried out by the Millbrook Group, a globally recognized independent vehicle test and validation provider, have shown that Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-30 oil helps improve fuel economy up to 2.6 percent in city driving conditions when compared against conventional mineral-based oils.***

“Our new Mobil Delvac 1 oil technologies offer fleet managers a big opportunity to grow their business by taking advantage of only a small portion of their budget,” said Paul Cigala, Commercial Vehicle Lubricants Applications Engineer at ExxonMobil. “Use of these oils translates into less money spent on fuel and maintenance and more money to invest in other areas of their business that will help drive growth.”

ExxonMobil says these oils can also provide benefits for fleet owners focused on reducing waste. In lab testing, the Mobil Delvac 1 5W-30 oils showed a 37 percent improvement in oil consumption when compared to a leading global CJ-4 / MB 228.51 synthetic oil.****

* Compared to a 15W-40 conventional engine oil. Actual savings are dependent upon vehicle/engine type, outside temperature, driving conditions, and your current engine oil viscosity.
** Results may vary based on vehicle/engine condition, driving and environmental conditions. Consult OEM or ExxonMobil before implementing extended ODIs. Testing conducted using Cummins ISX, Detroit Diesel DD15, Paccar MX-13 and Mack MP-8 engines.
*** A fuel economy evaluation was conducted using two Volvo FH500 6x2 Euro 6 trucks, loaded to 60% vehicle payload (circa 32,000 kg). Testing was conducted on track at the Millbrook Proving Ground, Ltd. in the United Kingdom. Statistically significant fuel economy benefits were observed in the Volvo trucks, when comparing Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-30 to a mineral 15W-40 engine oil, with an average fuel economy gain of 2.6% for city driving conditions. Fuel economy improvements are dependent on vehicle/equipment type, outside temperature, driving conditions and your current fluid viscosities. Corrections were applied when changes in test environment had a statistically significant impact on fuel economy.
**** Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-30 and Mobil Delvac 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 5W-30 show outstanding performance in the demanding Caterpillar C13 Piston Deposit Test, including a 37% improvement in oil consumption control as compared to a leading, global CJ-4 / MB 228.51synthetic oil. The Caterpillar C13 test is a currently prescribed engine test to meet the API CK-4 specification. The testing source was Intertek Automotive Research.
