100 Largest For-Hire Truck Fleets in North America 2016 List Released

Transport Topics has issued its 2016 lists of the 100 largest for-hire trucking fleets in North America. This year, UPS and FedEx repeat as number 1 and 2, while XPO Logistics moves up to 3rd place from 14th last year. J.B. Hunt and YRC Worldwide follow in 4th and 5th place. The 2016 list of largest 100 private fleets is not yet available.

JX Holdings, TonenGeneral Finalize Merger as Japan’s Biggest Oil Refiner

JX Holdings Inc. and TonenGeneral Sekiyu KK, Japan's third-largest oil refiner, finalized an agreement, effective April 1, 2017, to form the county’s biggest oil refiner, a giant with combined sales of 14 trillion yen (US$135 billion). The merger would create a refiner with control of about half of the country’s gasoline market.

Nynas 2Q16 Naphthenics Sales Volumes Increase; Earnings Fall

Nynas reported that its naphthenics sales volumes in the second quarter 2016 increased more than 8 percent above the same period in 2015, but its naphthenics business operating result before depreciation (EBITDA) decreased to a loss of SEK 131 (US$15.3) million compared to a profit of SEK 49 million in the same period in 2015.

Motiva Forms 76 Brand Sales and Marketing Team

Motiva Enterprises announced last Tuesday the formation of its new 76® sales and marketing team. In February of this year, Phillips 66 and Motiva signed an exclusive long-term brand license agreement for the 76 brand covering the 26 eastern and Gulf Coast states of Motiva’s operating territory. Lubricants are not part of this agreement.
