Cologne, Germany-based LANXESS last Monday announced plans to acquire Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-headquartered Chemtura Corporation. Chemtura’s two additive segments will, together with LANXESS’ Rhein Chemie Additives business unit, form the new Performance Additives segment after the closing of the transaction.

Ergon has announced the availability of HyGold 5000BS, a product of the company’s investment in the latest Group I bright stock refining technology. Recent modifications at the company’s refinery in Vicksburg, MS, allow for production capacity of 150,000 tons or one million bbls per year of HyGold 5000BS.

Eugene, OR-based Tyree Oil has acquired the lubricants division of Portland, OR-based Christenson Oil, which owns one of the largest independently operated blending facilities in the Pacific Northwest. The purchase price was not disclosed.
