Finished Lube Price Increases Continue

Following finished lubricant price increases announced by Shell, ExxonMobil and CITGO, as reported in last week's OEM/Lube News, others including Chevron, Valvoline, BP/Castrol, Phillips 66 and Kleen Performance Products announced price increases, typically in the 6% range, within the past several days.

Idemitsu Lubricants Opens R&D Center in U.S.

Idemitsu Lubricants America has opened its new 13,000 square foot facility in Wixom, MI — its first R&D center in North America. ILA invested $2.4 million in building and equipment costs for the new site, with plans to spend an additional $2 million for new equipment over the next two years.

Freudenberg Launches EUR40 Million Expansion in Germany for Kluber and Chem-Trend

Freudenberg is investing 40 million euros in expanding its nearby site at Maisach, Germany in the construction of a 19,000 square meters pan-European logistics center for Klüber Lubrication, Chem-Trend and OKS. Construction of the new logistics center for Klüber Lubrication is due to be completed in the second half of 2017.

World Fuel Services Corporation to Acquire Two Fuel & Lubricant Distributors

Miami, FL-headquartered World Fuel Services Corporation, last Thursday announced that its subsidiary has signed definitive agreements to acquire two U.S. fuel and lubricant distributors: Virginia Beach, VA-based PAPCO and Tacoma, WA-based Associated Petroleum Products, for a total of $230 million.
