Mack has introduced a new Service Bulletin 'Approved Oils, Mack Components'. This bulletin lists the companies offering oils required for Mack components as well as comments; that synthetic oils do not allow further extension of oil drain intervals, about these approved oils meeting Volvo VDS-4 standard, about use of aftermarket additives, etc. This is not a totally new list of approved oils; rather it is a new format showing revised lists of EO-N and EO-O approved oils.

Valvoline and telematics provider, tiwi, a division of inthinc Technology Solutions, Inc., unveiled a program last week designed to guarantee fleets up to 4% better miles per gallon, or their money back. Called the "Fuel Proof Guarantee," the program combines the fuel-conserving benefits of Valvoline's Premium Blue Extreme 5W-40 engine oil and Syn Gard FE 75W-90 gear oil with a new driver monitoring and mentoring system from tiwi.

Chevron's Delo brand of technologically advanced engine oils, lubricants and coolants, yesterday announced that after conducting extensive field tests since 2000 in nearly two-dozen Volvo D12C engines using Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Urea, also known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), Delo® 400 LE SAE 15W- 40 showed exceptional performance in the areas of durability, reliability and the reduced production of incombustible materials in the DPF.

ConocoPhillips recently announced that it has added the exclusive Liquid Titanium® additive to the majority of its Kendall® GT-1® Motor Oils, including synthetic blend, full synthetic and high mileage offerings. The new Kendall GT-1 Motor Oils engineered with Liquid Titanium are designed to help reduce friction, fight engine wear and most importantly, prolong engine life, according to ConocoPhillips Lubricants.

Pratt Industries recently celebrated the grand opening of its $160m recycled paper mill and material recovery facility (MRF) in Shreveport, La. The mill, Pratt's third in the U.S., produces lightweight container board which the company says is the most advanced recycled paper mill in the world. The company also plans to bring on line a $50 million dollar clean energy plant at its headquarters in Conyers, Ga., to power the paper mill there.

The Fifth Edition of our Synthetic Lubricant Cross Reference Chart Series is scheduled to be published in the I&C Lube News beginning Wednesday, January 13, 2010 and run through June 2010, with a different chart each issue. In total, these revised charts will list over 7,750 (fully) synthetic lubricants (made from Group IV and/or Group V synthetic basestocks) marketed by over 500 lube manufacturing and marketing companies and OEMs.
