Gainey Corp. has announced a Chapter 11 reorganization filing in response to a $238 million lawsuit filed Sept. 26 by Wachovia Bank concerning loans it made to the company. The latest Transport Topics 100 list of the nation's largest for-hire carriers lists Gainey as number 64 on their list with revenue of over $400 million, and operating 2,175 company tractors, 295 owner-operator tractors, and 4,823 trailers.

ConocoPhilllips announced last week that it will decrease prices for most finished lubricants by 30 cents per gallon, effective October 24, 2008. LubriTec has been told that as a result of this price decrease, ConocoPhilllips expects increased temporary demand which could impair future product availability as well as the ability to meet requested ship dates.
