Daimler to Drop Sterling Truck Brand, Focus on Freightliner and Western Star
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) yesterday said
that it will drop its Sterling brand and end truck
production at its St. Thomas, Ontario and Portland,
Oregon plants. Daimler Trucks North America will
discontinue the Sterling Trucks brand next March, and
will focus on a two brand strategy. Additions to the
Freightliner and Western Star product ranges will be
made to address market segments that have been
served exclusively by Sterling offerings in the DTNA
stable.

Roadranger's marketing organization has announced
that fuel-saving Roadranger FE 75W-90 Synthetic
Gear Lubricant is now available through every major
heavy-duty truck original equipment manufacturer
(OEM) in North America. New truck buyers in the
United States and Canada may now specify this
Roadranger axle lubricant from OEMs such as
Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, Mack, Volvo,
Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star.

Caterpillar Undergoes Massive Reorganization
Caterpillar has announced that the company is
aligning its machine product and marketing
organizations, with probably the most significant
change being the creation of five "end-to-end" Machine
Business Divisions: Mining, Quarry & Waste,
Excavation, Earthmoving and Building Construction
Products. The alignment results in numerous officer
changes effective January 1, 2009, as well as the
formation of the company's first Chinese-based
division.

ConocoPhillips Introduces Next-Generation Diamond Class Turbine Oil
ConocoPhillips Company has announced the
introduction of its next-generation Diamond Class
Turbine Oil to meet the complex performance
demands of power plant gas turbines. This turbine oil,
a tri-branded offering featuring the Conoco, 76
Lubricants and Phillips 66 brands, is formulated from
exclusive ConocoPhillips hydrocracked base stocks to
extended the oxidation life up to 35,000 hours with
zero varnish deposits.

Two Large US Lube Distributors Unite to Form LubriCorp LLC
The Rogers Petroleum Inc., Lubricants Division and
Kelso Oil Co. will combine to form LubriCorp LLC, an
entity that the respective owners say will be one of the
largest lubricant distributors in the southeast US. The
new company will distribute Mobil, Exxon, Shell,
Pennzoil, Quaker State, Castrol, Citgo, JAX, and
Quaker Chemical branded lubricants, serving
customers in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West
Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama,
South Carolina and Texas.
